..because the world's 36 million blind are not an endless pool of need,
but a vast reservoir of potential disciplemakers.

Loads and Fishes
As we have mentioned before, the pandemic has resulted in a particularly heavy load on marginally-employed blind folk. Their most common vocation in the Philippines has been therapeutic massage, a business which -- between government edict, interrupted public transport, and cautious clients -- has dwindled to almost nothing in the past year.

Along with sending a little support to the blind Philippine disciplemakers, we sometimes include a small supplement to bless the needy blind around them. Weng (in the dark blouse) used this supplement to provide a dinner fellowship for out-of-work blind folk.

She shares: "I had the chance to share it with my co-visually impaired colleagues here in Davao. I can truly relate to the situation they're in right now. So to loosen up the worries a little, with the help of my sighted friend, we've prepared a dinner fellowship for some of the blind masseurs here in Davao. I took this opportunity to gather and give them the avenue to share how they've been since the pandemic. Its always nice to hear stories from people and realize how God remained faithful in each of our lives."

What do you notice about these two pictures?
  • I think Weng is the only person repeated in both, so she fed two groups.
  • There was a lot of food, and there isn't much left.
  • At least to me, the second group (with meal in hand) looks a bit happier!

Weng commented that COVID was "preventing most of the visually impaired people to have steady income in order to survive day by day. That's why I decided to gather them and just talk, pray and share the things God's been doing that manifests His love towards us even in this trying time. Everyone who attended this small gathering were genuinely happy."

It seems the Lord is still blessing meals offered to Him!
